Gujarat to develop five satellite towns; Vadodara and Rajkot to get Convention Centres

Japan K Pathak, Gandhinagar: Vadodara and Rajkot will get new convention centres. The State government has in its budget for FY 2025 proposed Rs. 50 crore budget to start the project of development of modern convention centres in these two cities.

As per the details of budget draft presented by finance minister Kanubhai Desai on February 20th, the State government intends development of five new satelite towns with modern amenities for which Rs. 50 crore sum is provisioned in the budget.

Under the Urban Development department, Rs. 250 crore sum is provisioned for assistance for construction of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Sports Enclave at Motera in Ahmedabad. Rs. 150 crore allocation is made to MEGA company as grant in aid for preparation of Detailed Project Report (DPR) and feasibility study for Metro rails in the State.

Rs 80 crore allocation is made for State Clean Air Programme while Rs. 10 crore is allocated for Urban Atlas Development Technological Intergration.

Chief Minister Green Ring Road Development Scheme for Municipal Corporations has found allocation of Rs. 200 crore. Rs. 180 crore allocation is made for creation of Integrated Command & Control Centre in 12 Municipal Corporations.

Among other allocations – a new Urban Bhavan will be constructed for the department offices for which Rs. 5 crore sum is allocated for FY 2025. Allocations are also made for comprehensive development of religious places, purchase of turn table ladder, quick response vehicles, development of Gaurav Pathh iconic roads, treated waste water plants and more.
