Passenger arriving from Jeddah held at Ahmedabad Airport for gold smuggling

Ahmedabad: A person arriving from Jeddah was arrested at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport on Thursday by the Customs department for smuggling around 500 grams of gold.
Acting on profiling-based input, Customs officials intercepted a passenger arriving on an IndiGo flight from Jeddah at 9:45 am and became suspicious after a routine check. Upon inspection, authorities found a plastic pouch containing gold chains in his right trouser pocket.
