Gujarat VCE-operators, TET-TAT pass candidates protest in Gandhinagar

Gandhinagar: The Gujarat State Village Computer Entrepreneur (VCE) Association staged a sit-in protest at Satyagraha Chavni today, demanding the resolution of their long-pending issues. During the protest, police detained more than 100 demonstrators.

VCE employees have been raising their demands for the past eight years. Their key demands include abolishing the commission-based system, implementing regular pay scales, enforcing the Minimum Wage Act, and revising the E-Gram policy.

The protesters are also calling for job security, the reinstatement of dismissed office bearers and Village Computer Entrepreneurs (VCEs), and insurance coverage, including health benefits for their families.

Additionally, they are demanding financial assistance for the families of VCEs who lost their lives during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as high-speed internet connectivity and the provision of necessary equipment in Gram Panchayats.

A large number of VCE employees from across the state participated in the protest before being detained by the police.

Meanwhile, around 250 aspiring government teachers were also detained by the police after staging a protest near Pathikashram in the state capital.

The protesters, who had cleared the Teacher’s Eligibility Test (TET) and Teacher’s Aptitude Test (TAT), were demanding the completion of the recruitment process and resolution of other pending concerns. TET qualification is mandatory for teaching positions in classes 1 to 8, while TAT is required for classes 9 to 12 in government and grant-in-aid schools.

Gandhinagar District Superintendent of Police, Ravi Teja Vasamsetty, stated that around 250 candidates were detained but were released by the evening. DeshGujarat
