February 25, 2025
Rajkot: A case of serious negligence has come to light once again at a food outlet, as the McDonald’s restaurant in the city sent a non-veg burger to a customer who had ordered a vegetarian burger via the Swiggy app. The Hindu family alleged that their religious sentiments were hurt after one of the members unknowingly consumed the non-veg burger. The affected family has initiated legal proceedings in the consumer court.
According to reports, Keval Virani ordered six veg burgers for his family from McDonald’s, located at Reliance Mall in the city, via the Swiggy food delivery app last Sunday. However, McDonald’s delivered four veg and two non-veg burgers. A family member unknowingly consumed a chicken burger, leading to outrage and distress among the Vaishnava family, who adhere to a strict vegetarian diet.
Feeling deeply hurt and considering it a violation of their faith, the family has begun legal action against the restaurant in the consumer court. The complainant’s lawyer, Ajay Singh Chauhan, stated that this is a case of serious negligence on the part of McDonald’s. In this matter, the customer personally visited McDonald’s and informed the officials about the incident, after which they apologized and admitted that the mistake occurred due to a rush of customers. However, my client is determined to take legal action in this regard. I have initiated the process of filing a case in the consumer court. DeshGujarat
