Ahmedabad: A video has gone viral on social media in which Hindu residents of the Vatva area of the city have alleged that miscreant youths from the Muslim community have been continuously harassing them. Residents alleged that the miscreants involved in threats and theft are Ajju Pathan, Sajo Pathan, Maan Bukhari, and their associates.
In the viral video, a man claimed that these miscreants had threatened to burn down the entire Chunara Vas after Muharram and kill members of the Chunara community. Another woman stated that 10-15 miscreants came to her house and threatened her brother, warning that if he was seen on the road, they would ram him with a rickshaw and kill him.
A young girl in the video alleged, “We can’t even go out without our brothers. They eve-tease us, and going to school has also become difficult.”
Several women claimed that these miscreants, intoxicated by drugs and alcohol, roam their lanes, bang on their doors, and harass them. They also accused the miscreants of eve-teasing females with ill intentions.
One woman stated, “My son returned from the office at night and was going to the Masani Mata temple when they stopped him, searched his pockets, and when they found nothing, they beat him. They even tried to take him to a room, but my son ran for his life.”
It has also come to light that a car belonging to one Anil Chunara, along with ₹70,000 cash, was stolen by Ajju Khan and his accomplices. Residents alleged that these individuals now enter Chunara Vas and issue threats.
One man stated, “Our mothers, sisters, and daughters are unable to step out on the road. When we approached the police, instead of taking action, they falsely picked up Amit Chunara. Even when Amit was taken to the police station, these miscreants were pelting stones and later sent him death threats on his Instagram account.”
Anil Chunara stated that when he approached the police regarding the theft of his car, instead of taking action, the police started questioning him. He further claimed that his car was found the next day, but the police returned it without any investigation or information regarding the theft. DeshGujarat
