Porbandar – Mumbai Flight Service to Resume After Three-Year Halt

Porbandar: After a hiatus of three years, the Porbandar-Mumbai flight service is set to resume on April 1st, bringing relief and joy to the residents of the coastal city. The service will operate twice a week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Porbandar previously enjoyed regular air connectivity, with Jet Airways operating flights to Mumbai and other airlines connecting the city to Ahmedabad and Delhi. However, all flight services were unfortunately suspended three years ago.

The absence of air connectivity has been keenly felt by local businesses, including those in the fishing industry, as well as by tourists and patients requiring medical treatment. The flight to Mumbai was particularly crucial for these groups.

Following numerous representations from former and current Members of Parliament, MLAs, business associations, and other organizations, the flight service is finally being reinstated.

Starting April 1st, flights will operate between Porbandar and Mumbai on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The flight will depart from Mumbai at 11:30 AM, arriving in Porbandar at 1:00 PM. The return flight will depart from Porbandar at 1:25 PM, reaching Mumbai at 2:55 PM.

Ticket prices will range from ₹6,974 to ₹8,302.

The resumption of the flight service is significant for Porbandar, a city known for its historical importance as the birthplace of Mahatma Gandhi and Sudama. The city attracts a considerable number of visitors, including NRIs, and is also a hub for the fishing industry. Bhaishri Ramesh Oza’s Sandipani Ashram, Madhavpur beach are also located close to Porbandar town. DeshGujarat
