Insect found in water served at Sam’s Pizza, Ahmedabad; video goes viral
March 10, 2025
Ahmedabad: A customer, along with six others, visited Sam’s Pizza outlet, located opposite AMA (Ahmedabad Management Association), for lunch on Sunday. He has filed a complaint with the National Consumer Helpline after finding an insect floating in the water.
The customer recorded a video in which the insect could be seen floating in the water bottle. He stated, “Seven of us went for lunch and paid around ₹425 per person. We were served water that contained an insect. When we complained, the manager and staff apologized but said that cleaning the water tank was not in their hands. We have filed a complaint and will wait to see what action is taken against the restaurant.”
The customer further stated that the water being served was tank water, which was also used for cold drinks and soda. “We recorded a video of the tank, and the manager told us that its maintenance was not in their hands. We questioned why, despite paying so much, they were compromising our health. We asked them to give us a written assurance that if any of us fell sick, they would take responsibility, but they refused. If such a big restaurant serves this kind of contaminated water after charging ₹475, then what is the difference between this and street food?”
The customer has filed a complaint against the outlet on the National Consumer Helpline online, providing video proof and an invoice. DeshGujarat
