Missing Gondal youth dies in accident; family alleges foul play, police denies it

Gondal: Former MLA Jayarajsinh Jadeja has once again found himself at the center of controversy. Days after allegations surfaced that a father and son were assaulted near his bungalow, the son has been found dead in Rajkot. However, the police have rejected the allegation of foul play and released all related CCTV footage to the media.

The father of the deceased has alleged foul play, saying, “What I had said earlier has happened. I do not know what exactly happened to my son. Since the incident that happened to me, I have been saying the same thing: we want justice. I have been living in Gondal for 30 years, but this is the first time something like this has happened. I suspect that my son has been murdered. Whatever it is, we just want justice.”

The sister of the deceased also made shocking claims, stating that she had allegedly spoken to Gondal PI Gosai, who told her he had reviewed CCTV footage from Jayarajsinh Jadeja’s bungalow. According to her, PI Gosai revealed that the footage showed the young man being assaulted. She has demanded a CBI investigation into the matter.

Meanwhile, the district police superintendent held a press conference and shared details of the investigation. He rejected any possibility of foul play in this case and provided all related CCTV footage to the media.

He stated, “Rajkumar went missing from his home on the night of March 2 at 2 AM. His father realized it on March 3 and came to my office on March 5. I listened to him for an hour, and we formed various teams from LCB, SOG, and police stations to search for him. Upon checking the footage, we found that Rajkumar had left his home alone in the early morning of March 3 and arrived at the Gondal-Rajkot highway. He was seen at a bus stand, near Bhojpara village, Biliyana village, and Bharudi toll plaza. He was alone and barefoot, walking towards Rajkot. He was also spotted near Ribda and Shapar Gujarat Impax Company.”

“At 6:34 PM on March 3, he was seen at Ramdham Ashram, and at around 2 AM on March 4, he left the place. His body was found around 3 AM on the Rajkot-Ahmedabad highway and was taken to the hospital via a 108 ambulance. When we learned about the unidentified body, we contacted his family. His sister and brother-in-law arrived and identified the body,” he added.

The senior police official further said, “During the investigation, we found that on March 2 at around 11 AM, Rajkumar’s father, Ratanlal, called his son. The call was answered by a priest at a temple in Gondal. When Ratanlal asked about his son, the priest informed him that Rajkumar was there. Ratanlal went to the temple, but Rajkumar, who did not have a smooth relationship with his father, questioned him, saying, ‘Why have you come here?’ A heated argument ensued. After this, Rajkumar and his father left on a bike, with Rajkumar riding at high speed. Incidentally, Ratanlal got off the bike right in front of former MLA Jayrajsinh’s house. Rajkumar entered the MLA’s house without permission. The security guard made him sit down, and Ratanlal also arrived. An interaction and argument followed. When Rajkumar refused to leave, he was forcibly escorted out.”

“CCTV footage confirms that Rajkumar entered the house on his own and was not taken there by anyone. He was provided with a chair to sit on. There was tension between father and son, as Rajkumar was not focusing on his studies and wanted to live freely. Even after leaving the MLA’s house, they continued arguing, as captured in the CCTV footage. Rajkumar was riding the bike at high speed, and his father warned him against it. At one point, Ratanlal jumped off the moving bike, risking injuries.”

“After this, Rajkumar parked the bike and re-entered Jayrajsinh’s house. He was mentally disturbed and under stress. This was not the first time he had left home—he had done so three to four times in the past. When he left Jayrajsinh’s house, he was walking normally, as seen in the CCTV footage. He then walked from Gondal to the Kuvadva police station area with a bottle in his hand. Rajkumar’s body was later found near the Kuvadva police station and was sent for a post-mortem as per procedure,” he added.

After the identification process, a forensic post-mortem was conducted before handing over the deceased body to his father. The family has since left for their hometown in Rajasthan, where his last rites will be performed. DeshGujarat
