Palanpur: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat has booked Ankitaben Ojha, Deputy Collector at the Stamp Duty Assessment Office in Palanpur, in a bribery case. An offence under Sections 7, 12, 13(1)(a), and 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (Amendment-2018), has been registered against the Class-1 officer.
According to the ACB, Ankitaben allegedly demanded a ₹3 lakh bribe from a complainant in exchange for reducing stamp duty on certain plots and expediting the payment process. The ACB’s Gandhinagar field unit set up a trap and caught her red-handed while accepting the bribe.
Following the arrest, a search of Ankitaben’s bank locker at Bank of Baroda, Mehsana, led to the recovery of ten gold biscuits and seven gold bars worth ₹59,63,000, along with gold and silver ornaments valued at ₹15,26,839. The total seizure amounted to ₹74,89,839. DeshGujarat
