Govt of India’s Class-1 Officer Nabbed Taking Bribe in ACB Gujarat’s Trap in Ahmedabad
March 12, 2025
Ahmedabad: In a trap operation, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Ahmedabad City has apprehended Rajendrakumar Hirabhai Mahavadiya, Joint Director of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), in a bribery case involving a sum of ₹25,000.
The operation, which took place on March 12, 2025, led to the arrest of Mahavadiya, a Class-1 officer, after he was caught accepting a bribe of ₹25,000. The bribe was allegedly demanded from a consultancy firm owner who had applied for a food safety license for their client in January.
According to the complainant, Mahavadiya raised several queries regarding the application. However, during a personal meeting, he allegedly demanded ₹25,000 to clear the application without further objections. Unwilling to pay the bribe, the complainant approached the Ahmedabad City ACB, leading to a trap being set.
The trap was executed at the FSSAI office in Telephone Bhavan, opposite Municipal Market on C.G. Road. Mahavadiya was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe from the complainant, and the entire amount was recovered from him. DeshGujarat
