Surat: Kapodara police arrested actor-director Jay Baraiya (36) and his wife Meenaxi (32) on Wednesday and seized IMFL bottles worth ₹2.86 lakh from them. The couple, residents of Adarshnagar Society near Bombay Market in Surat and originally from Bhavnagar, was caught transporting liquor. Authorities have also declared Jay’s twin brother and two others as ‘wanted’ in the case.

Based on a tip-off, a Kapodara police team reached the parking area of Ravi Park Society, where they found the couple moving IMFL bottles from two cars. A total of 1,579 bottles, two cars, and a moped were seized. During interrogation, Jay admitted that his twin brother, Vijay, was involved in the illegal trade.

Kapodara Police Inspector M.B. Asura stated that Jay sourced the liquor from a shop in Naroli village, Silvassa (UT), to cater to increased demand during Holi. DeshGujarat
