Gandhinagar GMERS Medical College terminates four professors
March 14, 2025
Gandhinagar: The Gujarat Medical Education and Research Society (GMERS) Medical College in the state capital has dismissed four professors, citing alleged dereliction of duty.
The GMERS CEO stated that the terminated faculty members, including one female doctor, comprised two on 12-month contracts and two in ad-hoc positions. Officials attributed their dismissal to poor departmental performance, with termination notices issued on Thursday afternoon.
The Teachers’ Association has strongly opposed the decision, arguing that due process was not followed. Representatives sought a meeting with the health minister but were unable to do so and are set to discuss the matter next Monday. Concerns have been raised over recruitment at GMERS medical colleges, which are already facing staff shortages. DeshGujarat
