Rash Driving Car Accident in Karelibag Vadodara, 1 dead, 7 injured, accused Rakshit Chaurasia arrested

Vadodara: In a tragic road accident one woman was dead on the spot and 7 others were injured and taken to Shukan hospital, Doshi hospital,  Zydus hospital and SSG hospital after an overspeeding car driven by a youth hit them near Karelibag based Amrapali complex. The accused Rakshit Chorasia is arrested by Police. Chorasiya is originally from Varanasi and he lives in Bhayli area of Vadodara as a Law student. The incident happened at 11.41 pm according to Police.

The accused Rakshit was visibly looking drunk  or more possibly drugged and he was not in sense when the accident happened. He was chased by locals when he came out of car and beaten up. The other youth sitting in the car next to the driving seat left the car after accident. The car was a Volkswagon Virtus GT Plus black by make and its RTO registration number is GJ06RA6879. The car is owned by Deon Technology Pvt Ltd, directors of which are Prashant Baheti, Vikram Jain and Jignesh Doshi. However police have confirmed that the car was owned by Mit Chauhan’s father.

CCTV footage showed that very overspeeding car hit two two-wheelers. Police confirmed that it also hit another two-wheeler, meaning total three two-wheelers – one motorcycle, one scooter and one electric vehicle.

According to city Police official Panna Momaya – ‘An overspeeding car was on Sangam to Muktanand road with two persons in it. Rakshit Ravish Chaurasiya was on driving seat. He is from Varanasi and studies in MSU as a Law student. The other person in the car was Mit Pranshu Chauhan from Bhayli. He was sitting next to driving seat.  Police is in search of him. Mit is student of Parul University. The car belongs to Mit’s father.’

Later Mit Chauhan was also detained and taken for questioning. Police also called Suresh Bharwad for questioning. Bharwad was with Mit and Rakshit before the incident happened. City police commissioner said that the medical investigation would conclude which type of intoxicant the accused had consumed. Police said prima facie it is understood that the students started their journey from Uma char rasta. Police teams are in field for questioning of those who were with them before the incident happened.

Viral videos show, Rakshit was taking some Nikita’s name when he left the car and surrounded by local people. He also shouted ‘Aum Namah Shivay’ repeatedly and his Linkdin profile also shows a banner of Shiva and smoke generated from Shiva’s image. It appears he had consumed Ganja (canabbis) or other drug substance and not alcohol. However medical investigation can only conclud this exactly. It is reported in a local news paper that the accused threw imported brand Vodka bottle on the road from a car window after accident. The bottle was Sweedish make and it was hit with road-divider. It was a bottle sold on liquor permit of someone. Rakshit was taken to hospital for medical investigation.

Fatehganj based Purav Dipakbhai Patel (42) and his wife Hemali (40) were out on two-wheeler and passing through Kareligbag water tank Chandravali char rasta. At the same time Nishaben Ashishbhai Shah (35), Rensi Ashishbhai Shah(10) and Jimmi Ashishbhai Shah (15) were also passing on two-wheeler, when the car hit them. Hemali Purav Patel (40) died on the spot while Purav Dipakbhai Patel was seriously injured. Nishaben Shah, Rensi Shah, Jimmi Shah were also injured. Shahs who were injured in this accident were out to buy colors for festival of Dhuleti. Car’s airbags could be seen popping out when accident took place. The other two who were injured include siblings Vikas Ajit Kevlani and Komalben Ajitbhai Kevlani.

Ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) city unit of Vadodara has cancelled party’s Rang Utsav event which was scheduled to be held to mark the festival of Dhuleti later today. City BJP chief Dr. Jayprakash Soni in a tweet said that the event by Vadodara city BJP has been cancelled in view of the incident of accident in Karelibag area. DeshGujarat
