Japanese guest reports gold bracelet theft from 5 star hotel in Ahmedabad
March 17, 2025
Ahmedabad: A Japanese national staying at Hotel Hyatt Regency in Usmanpura for the past 20 months has reported the disappearance of a gold bracelet worth ₹6.5 lakh. The complainant, 65-year-old Hisarotsugu Itaro Hara, has been residing at the 5-star hotel since August 2023.
According to Itaro’s complaint with Vadaj police, he last placed the bracelet—a dual-tone bangle with one half in gold and the other in silver—on his desk on February 10. When he searched for it on February 12, it was nowhere to be found. After thoroughly searching his room, he suspected theft and reported the matter to the hotel management on February 16, prompting an internal investigation. However, after ten days, the hotel informed him that the bracelet remained untraceable and advised him to approach the police. Due to work commitments, he delayed reporting the theft until Thursday.
The bracelet was purchased for 9,816.5 Singapore dollars, according to Itaro’s statement. Meanwhile, the police have stated that they have registered a case and are reviewing CCTV footage while questioning the staff. Prima facie, there is a strong possibility that a hotel staff member is involved in the crime, as per the police. DeshGujarat
