Trial runs begin for Ahmedabad – Gandhinagar Metro extension to Sachivalaya
March 19, 2025
Gandhinagar: People traveling from Ahmedabad to the Sachivalaya (Secretariat) in the state capital will soon get direct metro connectivity as the trial runs of the metro have begun on this route to Sachivalaya. The Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) today commenced the trial runs of the metro rail to Sachivalaya station in Gandhinagar.
Phase 2 of the Ahmedabad Metro Rail, which connects Ahmedabad to Gandhinagar, consists of two lines: Motera Stadium to Mahatma Mandir and GNLU to GIFT City.
The Motera to Mahatma Mandir corridor, known as the Yellow Line, has 21 stations, out of which seven are currently operational, stretching from Motera Stadium to Sector 1 station in Gandhinagar. Until now, government employees and the public traveling to the Sachivalaya had to deboard at Sector 1 station and take another mode of transport to reach their destination. However, this inconvenience will soon be resolved as the metro will extend to Sachivalaya.
Once the trial runs are completed, seven more stations on the Yellow Line are expected to become operational within three months. These include Koteshwar Road, Vishwakarma College, Tapovan Circle, Narmada Canal, Koba Circle, Sector 10-A, and Sachivalaya, enhancing connectivity and frequency. DeshGujarat
