Rajkot: Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel visited Rajkot today, where he inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for various development projects worth Rs. 565 crore under the Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) and Rajkot Urban Development Authority (RUDA) at a public event held at the RUDA plot on Kalavad Road, Kataria Chowkdi.

Among the inaugurated projects is the newly built Indoor Games Sports Complex in Mavadi, while work on converting Ring Road-2 into a highway was also initiated. The Mavadi sports complex, built on an 11,831 square meter site in Ward 12, boasts international standards with a 1,200-seat capacity and a 9,500-square-meter built-up area. It features an open ground, parking facilities, a tennis court, a basketball court, a volleyball court, and a skating rink.

Under RMC, four projects worth Rs. 58.54 crore were inaugurated, while 35 projects worth Rs. 332.26 crore had their foundation stones laid, totaling Rs. 390.80 crore. Additionally, under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, 133 EWS-2 (1.5 BHK) houses and 50 MIG (3 BHK) houses, totaling 183 units, were allotted to beneficiaries through a computerized draw.

Meanwhile, RUDA laid the foundation stone for six projects worth Rs. 174.83 crore, further boosting urban infrastructure in the region.

• Construction of a 45.0-meter DP Road from Ring Road-2, Phase-3 (Gondal Road to Bhavnagar Road) to RMC Boundary in the RUDA area.

• Construction of a 45.0-meter DP Road from National Highway-27 (Khodiyar Hotel) to Kangashiyali village gate in the RUDA area.

• Underground drainage project under TP Scheme No. 38/2 in Ronki village, RUDA area.

• Underground drainage project in Kangashiyali village, RUDA area.
