“Multani” Gang Arrested for Cattle Theft Spree Across North Gujarat and Rajasthan

Patan: Police in North Gujarat have apprehended a gang of ten individuals, known as the “Multani” gang, who were involved in a series of cattle thefts across multiple districts in Gujarat and Rajasthan. The Local Crime Branch (LCB) of Patan district successfully dismantled the gang, recovering stolen livestock and vehicles worth over 1.8 million rupees.
The gang, operating under the leadership of Arif Khyali Multani from Modasa, was responsible for a string of cattle thefts in Patan, Banaskantha, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Gandhinagar districts of Gujarat, and Dungarpur in Rajasthan. The LCB, acting on a tip-off and utilizing technical surveillance and human intelligence, arrested ten members of the gang, including a juvenile. One key member is still at large, and police are continuing their search.
The gang admitted to stealing cattle from at least 16 different police jurisdictions across the five Gujarat districts. They confessed to hiring additional manpower for their operations, paying them 1,500 rupees per night.
Police recovered nine buffaloes worth 345,000 rupees, seven mobile phones worth 58,000 rupees, two pickup trucks and one Xylo car worth 1.4 million rupees, ropes worth 200 rupees, and weapons including sticks and pipes. The total value of the recovered items is over 1.8 million rupees.

- Juvenile
The leader of the gang, Arif Khyali Multani, has an extensive criminal record with 32 cases registered against him in various police stations across Gujarat, including Aravalli, Gandhinagar, Sabarkantha, Mehsana, and Valsad.
Police are continuing their investigation to apprehend the remaining gang member and to uncover any additional information about their operations. They are also looking into the possibility of the gang being involved in other criminal activities. DeshGujarat
