Surat: Two men from Dabhel have been arrested for kidnapping and molesting a 16-year-old girl in the Sachin-Pali area of Surat. The girl, Hindu by faith, who is one of eight children from a family originally from Uttar Pradesh, works in a factory in the GIDC area.

The accused, identified as Abdul Basit Qureshi and Juned, also worked at the same factory and resided in Dabhel, near Navsari. They were acquainted with the girl and would often talk to her. Basit allegedly lured her with promises of love and marriage.

On March 22nd, Basit and Juned took the girl to a room on a motorcycle. There, Basit allegedly molested her under the pretense of marriage.

The girl had left home under the pretext of visiting a friend. She returned home the next day but remained withdrawn and quiet, raising suspicion from her brother. Upon questioning her, the entire incident was revealed. Further investigation by the brother confirmed that Basit and Juned had taken her to the room.

Following the girl’s brother’s complaint, Sachin Police registered a case of kidnapping and molestation under the POCSO Act against Abdul Basit Mohammad Bilal Qureshi (resident of Thana Faliyu, Simlak village, Navsari district) and Juned Hasanbhai Sheikh (resident of Nagri Faliyu, Dabhel, Navsari district). Both men were subsequently arrested.
