March 29, 2025
Ahmedabad: In the ongoing crackdown by the authorities against food adulteration, the Health Department of Amdavad Municipal Corporation today seized over 1,000 kg of spurious cream allegedly being used for ghee adulteration in the Naroda area of the city.
Following a police tip-off, officials from the Health Department, equipped with body-worn cameras, raided Shiv Shambhu Dairy Products in Srinath Estate and confiscated the suspicious cream. It was revealed that adulterated cream was being used to make fake ghee and other food items. Fake cream was produced by mixing milk powder and palm oil with original cream and was being sold in rural areas and small markets.
Samples of the seized cream have been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory for analysis. Along with this, the license of Shiv Shambhu Dairy has been canceled. Authorities are also investigating the distribution network of the adulterated cream.
This action follows similar raids conducted just two days ago at five locations, including Nikol, Gota, and Jivraj Park, where officials seized 499 kg of substandard cheese. Several shop owners were issued notices after inedible and suspicious food materials were confiscated.DeshGujarat
