Gujarat govt revises birth and death registration fees

Gandhinagar: The Gujarat government has introduced amendments to the Birth and Death Registration Rules, increasing fees for late registration and record searches. The revised fee structure was published in The Gujarat Government Gazette by the Health and Family Welfare Department on February 27, 2025.

As per the new rules, the registration fee for a birth or death recorded between 21 and 30 days has increased from ₹2 to ₹20, while registrations between 30 days and one year will now cost ₹50 instead of ₹5. Registrations made after one year, which require an order from the District Magistrate, will now cost ₹100, up from ₹10. Additionally, charges for searching records and issuing certificates have also been revised. The government has directed authorities to implement these changes as per the updated notification.
