Gandhinagar: The Gujarat Interventional Cardiologists Forum has called for the suspension of cardiology services under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) at private hospitals across the state from April 1 to 7.

The cardiologists are demanding a revision of reimbursement rates, arguing that the current rates do not reflect inflation and rising treatment costs. They claim that while medical expenses have increased significantly over the years, the package rates have remained stagnant, making it difficult to provide quality care.

According to the forum, PMJAY aims to make healthcare accessible, but inadequate pricing structures hinder its effectiveness. They highlighted that insufficient hikes in PCI (Percutaneous Coronary Intervention) and other treatment packages are affecting interventional cardiology services under the scheme.

Deeming the resolution of these issues crucial, the cardiologists have warned that they will discontinue interventional cardiology services under PMJAY from April 1 if their concerns are not addressed.

The forum has submitted representations to Gujarat’s District Collectors, the Gujarat State Health Agency, and PMJAY authorities, urging immediate action on these issues. DeshGujarat
