Gandhinagar: The procurement of tur at the minimum support price (MSP) is ongoing across Gujarat. To ensure that no farmer is deprived of selling tur at the support price, the purchase period has been extended until April 30.
Providing details on the decision, Agriculture Minister Raghavji Patel stated that Gujarat has recorded a significant tur crop yield this year. Under the Pradhan Mantri Annadata Aay Sanrakshan Abhiyan, the Government of India announced a support price of ₹7,550 per quintal for tur. Encouraged by the favorable support price, more than 1.23 lakh farmers in the state registered to sell their produce.
Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel launched the procurement of tur at the support price across the state on February 24. So far, a total of 1.11 lakh metric tonnes of tur, valued at over ₹841 crore, has been procured from 58,300 farmers. The minister assured that the procurement process will continue until April 30, ensuring that all registered farmers who have yet to sell their tur can do so. DeshGujarat
