Red alert in Kutch as heatwave continues in several parts of Gujarat

Kutch: The heatwave in parts of Gujarat continues for several days now, with no relief in sight this week as well. The India Meteorological Department (IMD), in its latest forecast, has issued a red alert for a severe heatwave in Kutch till April 8. Meanwhile, orange and yellow alerts have been issued for other parts of the state until April 10.

As per the IMD bulletin, a red alert has been sounded in Kutch, as heatwave to severe heatwave conditions are very likely to prevail till Wednesday morning.

An orange alert has been issued for Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Patan, Mehsana, Rajkot, and Morbi till April 8. Surendranagar has been placed under an orange alert only for Tuesday.

A yellow alert has been issued today for Surendranagar, Botad, Bhavnagar, Surat, and Junagadh, while only Botad, Bhavnagar, and Surat will remain under yellow alert tomorrow.

On April 9, an orange alert will be in effect for Kutch, Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Patan, and Mehsana, while Rajkot and Morbi will be under yellow alert.

On April 10, the rest of Gujarat may get some relief, as only Banaskantha and Sabarkantha in North Gujarat are placed under a yellow alert.

The weather department has stated that no significant change in maximum temperatures is expected over the next three days, after which a drop of 2–4°C is likely, possibly bringing some relief to people suffering under the scorching heat. DeshGujarat
