Heatwave likely to continue in Gujarat till April 10
April 08, 2025
Kutch: The latest forecast from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) brings minor relief as the red alert for the heatwave will be lifted from Wednesday. However, some areas in the state remain under orange and yellow alerts for April 9 and 10.
Heatwave conditions are expected to persist in Kutch, Banaskantha, Patan, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Rajkot, Morbi, Gandhinagar, Surat, Valsad, Surendranagar, Bhavnagar, and Botad till Wednesday morning. Among these, a red alert remains in place only for Kutch. Additionally, warm night conditions are very likely to prevail in isolated pockets of Saurashtra, particularly in Bhavnagar and Diu.
According to the IMD bulletin, an orange alert has been issued for Banaskantha, Patan, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Rajkot, Morbi, and Kutch for April 9, as heatwave conditions are very likely to prevail. The state capital Gandhinagar and Surendranagar in the Saurashtra region are under a yellow alert.
On April 10, only a yellow alert remains, and that too for just two districts — Banaskantha and Sabarkantha.
As per the IMD forecast, no significant change in maximum temperatures is expected over the next 48 hours. Thereafter, a drop of 2–4°C is likely, which is expected to bring some relief to people reeling under the heatwave. DeshGujarat
