IMD issues orange alert for 10 districts of Gujarat; yellow alert for 6

Rajkot: The India Meteorological Department (IMD), in its latest forecast, has issued an orange alert for heatwave to severe heatwave conditions in 10 districts of Gujarat today, while six districts have been placed under a yellow alert till tomorrow morning.
Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Kutch, Surendranagar, Porbandar, Morbi, Banaskantha, Patan, Mehsana, and Sabarkantha are the districts under the orange alert. Among these, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, and Kutch are likely to witness severe heatwave conditions today, as per the IMD bulletin.
On the other hand, a yellow alert has been issued for Junagadh, Botad, Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad, Anand, and Surat. Furthermore, warm night conditions are very likely to prevail in isolated pockets of Saurashtra, particularly in Bhavnagar.
On April 10, heatwave conditions are very likely in isolated pockets of Banaskantha and Sabarkantha in North Gujarat, and in Rajkot and Kutch in the Saurashtra-Kutch region. A yellow alert has been issued for these areas as well.
However, after 24 hours, people are likely to get some respite from the heat as temperatures are expected to drop by 2–4°C.
