Surendranagar records highest temperature in Gujarat at 44.8°C; Rajkot follows at 44°C

Surendranagar: Surendranagar remained the hottest spot in Gujarat as it recorded a maximum temperature of 44.8°C on Tuesday amid ongoing heat wave conditions. Rajkot followed at 44°C, while Amreli, Kandla Airport, Deesa, Ahmedabad, Bhuj, Keshod, Vadodara, Gandhinagar, and Surat also reported scorching temperatures between 40.6°C and 43.8°C — around 4–5 degrees above normal in most places. The city of Ahmedabad witnessed daytime temperature at 43.0°C for the third consecutive day.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heat wave alert till Thursday. An orange alert has been declared for parts of North Gujarat — Banaskantha, Patan, Mehsana, and Sabarkantha — and Saurashtra districts including Rajkot, Morbi, and Kutch for Wednesday. Gandhinagar and Surendranagar are under a yellow alert the same day, while heat wave conditions are expected to persist in Banaskantha and Sabarkantha on Thursday.
