Survey begins for 6-lane expansion of Bilimora–Chikhli–Vansda–Vaghai Highway

Navsari: As part of the plan to develop the Bilimora–Chikhli–Vansda–Vaghai State Highway into a six-lane high-speed corridor, CCTV cameras have been installed at seven traffic junctions by the Road Construction Department for a videography survey.

The department has been working on expanding this vital highway, which connects Gujarat with Maharashtra, for quite some time. The videography survey will cover key traffic junctions including Chikhli ST Depot Circle, Bagladev Circle, College Circle, Rankuva Crossroads, Surkhai Circle, Vansda Khadkala, and Hanumanbari Circle. In particular, high-traffic areas such as Chikhli ST Depot Circle, College Circle, Vansda Khadkala, and Hanumanbari will be surveyed for seven days, while the remaining junctions will undergo a three-day survey.

Plans are also in place to construct flyover bridges at major junctions, including Chikhli College Circle and Rankuva. The survey aims to assess vehicular traffic load and inform the design of the upgraded road.

Notably, the Bilimora–Chikhli–Vansda–Vaghai highway connects Maharashtra on one end, and on the other, it links to Dholai Port, Bilimora Railway Station, and the Ahmedabad–Mumbai National Highway. It will also provide future connectivity to the upcoming Bullet Train station at Kesli near Bilimora and the Vadodara–Mumbai Expressway.

The state government has initiated this major infrastructure upgrade to improve traffic flow and road safety. Once completed, the project is expected to bring major relief to commuters and vehicle operators. DeshGujarat
