13 ARTOs in Gujarat including Vastral to be upgraded into RTOs
April 11, 2025
Ahmedabad: A total of 13 Assistant Regional Transport Offices (ARTOs) in the state, including the Vastral ARTO in the city, will be upgraded and converted into full-fledged Regional Transport Offices (RTOs).
Currently, each ARTO has only one authorized officer, who is responsible for various tasks such as renewing permits, canceling permits, checking for tax irregularities, conducting RTO drives, and overseeing the expansion of transport bus capacities. With only one officer managing these duties, tasks that should be completed in a day often take up to four days.
When ARTOs were originally established, public footfall was low. However, with a significant increase in demand over the years, the need to upgrade these offices has become evident.
The Transport Department has officially announced the upgrade. Each RTO will have three officers, which is expected to speed up service delivery and reduce delays for the public. DeshGujarat
