Ahmedabad Metro ridership surges during IPL matches at Narendra Modi Stadium

Ahmedabad: Metro trains in the city see an average daily ridership of around 1.18 lakh passengers. However, the number of commuters increases significantly on days when IPL matches are held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera.
Between March 17 and 23, the average daily metro ridership stood at 1,18,182. On the days of IPL matches — March 25, March 29, and April 9 — 38,000 to 62,000 more passengers than usual travelled by metro. According to metro authorities, a record 1,80,196 commuters travelled on March 29, the highest so far.
On regular days, the metro earns approximately ₹13.65 lakh in revenue. In contrast, earnings spiked to ₹21.19 lakh on March 25, ₹26.57 lakh on March 29, and ₹23.56 lakh on April 9. DeshGujarat
