Ahmedabad hospitals suspend cashless facilities for three insurers
April 12, 2025
Ahmedabad: Member hospitals of the Ahmedabad Hospitals and Nursing Homes Association (AHNA) have indefinitely suspended cashless treatment services for policyholders of Star Health & Allied Insurance, Care Health Insurance, and Tata AIG Health Insurance.
Citing long-standing grievances from both patients and hospitals, the AHNA alleged that these three insurers were making unjustified deductions, rejecting claims arbitrarily, and delisting healthcare providers from their networks without valid reasons. Despite multiple discussions, AHNA claimed that the companies failed to resolve these concerns, leaving them with no choice but to take this step.
With the suspension of cashless facilities, policyholders will now have to undergo the reimbursement process for their medical expenses.
Meanwhile, TATA AIG, in a press statement said, “As one of the leading insurance companies, we remain responsible and committed to protecting policyholders’ interests. Some hospitals were found to be involved in malpractices hence they were delisted by TATA AIG. Such actions are necessary to protect policyholders from inflated costs that ultimately impact insurance premiums. Our priority is to ensure that our customers face no inconvenience and continue to receive uninterrupted healthcare services at an affordable premium.”
Star Health Insurance, said in the press statement that “Cashless services continue seamlessly across Gujarat, in cities such as Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, and others. Our customers face no disruption. Despite our responses to AHNA’s earlier claims, the association has made no effort to engage with us directly. AHNA’s repeated attempts to mislead the public are irresponsible and unwarranted.”
“Star Health remains committed to serving Gujarat and will continue partnering with ethical healthcare providers to ensure transparent and affordable care. Attempts to damage our reputation will be dealt with through appropriate legal action,” the statement further said. DeshGujarat
