Surendranagar: A man from Surendranagar took to social media to oppose Congress MP from Banaskantha, Geniben Thakor, for voting against the Waqf Amendment Bill in the Lok Sabha, calling it a betrayal of Hindus.
Chintan Mehta, a resident of Patdi, posted on his social media account: “Banaskantha, Gujarat Congress MP Geniben Thakor stabbed a knife in the back of Hindus in the area by voting against the Waqf Board Amendment Bill. Hindu voters need to wake up and end the politics of anti-Hindu and anti-national elements.”
However, the post later went viral on social media with the top two lines of the message cropped, which triggered an uproar within the Thakor community. Community members claimed that the post targeted the entire community.
Mehta later took to social media to clarify that his remarks were directed solely at Geniben Thakor and not at the Thakor community. He also issued an apology, stating that the post was not meant to hurt the sentiments of the community and was solely a political opinion. DeshGujarat
