Maximum temperature rises in Gujarat; heatwave likely to return from April 15th

Rajkot: Gujarat witnessed a significant rise in daytime temperatures once again after a brief relief, with several cities recording well above-normal highs on Sunday. Rajkot recorded the highest daytime temperature at 42.7°C, followed by Surendranagar (42.3°C) and Amreli (42.0°C). Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar also witnessed scorching highs of 41.6°C and 41.5°C respectively.
Other regions like Bhuj (40.9°C), Deesa (40.2°C), and Baroda (39.6°C) also reported significant temperature hikes. Coastal places like Surat, Dwarka, and Veraval remained relatively cooler with maximum temperatures of 34.5°C, 31.3°C, and 31.8°C respectively.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD), in its latest forecast, has issued a yellow alert for heatwave conditions starting tomorrow. According to the IMD, heatwave conditions are very likely to prevail in isolated pockets of Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Rajkot, and Kutch from April 15 to 17.
The forecast also states that Gujarat may witness a gradual rise in maximum temperatures by 2–3°C over the next five days, followed by a likely fall of 2–3°C thereafter. The maximum temperature is expected to range between 40°C and 44°C over parts of the Gujarat region and Saurashtra-Kutch from April 15 to 17. DeshGujarat
