Upcoming tropical forest dome at Sabarmati Riverfront to be AI-powered
April 15, 2025
Ahmedabad: The city civic body has proposed setting up another green attraction along the Sabarmati Riverfront—a tropical forest dome that will simulate rain, fog, and dense jungle-like greenery. Inspired by Singapore’s famous Cloud Forest at Gardens by the Bay, this futuristic project will offer city dwellers and tourists a unique experience of walking through a tropical ecosystem.
Planned near the sports complex on the river’s western bank, the dome will cover 1,600 square meters within a larger 7,000-square-meter area. With an estimated cost of ₹22 crore, the project was proposed in this year’s budget of the Amdavad Municipal Corporation.
What sets this tropical forest apart is its integration of artificial intelligence. From lighting and humidity control to water management, every environmental factor will be monitored and regulated by AI to ensure ideal conditions for tropical plants like orchids, alocasia, and heliconias—making the dome a self-sustaining indoor jungle.
In addition to the tropical forest dome, the AMC has planned a ₹25 crore meditation and yoga center within the Biodiversity Park on the Sabarmati’s west bank. Plans also include a ₹50 crore exhibition and performance art convention center behind the existing event venue, as well as a riverside dining zone between Nehru Bridge and Ellis Bridge, also estimated at ₹50 crore.
