Two Chaddar Gang members held for mobile phone theft in Patan; stolen phones routed to Nepal

Patan: The Local Crime Branch (LCB) has arrested two members of the Bihar-based Chaddar gang in connection with the burglary of 64 mobile phones worth ₹11.04 lakh and ₹23,000 in cash from a shop in Radhanpur city 20 days ago. Investigations have revealed that the gang used to send the stolen phones to a man in Nepal.

Explaining the modus operandi of the accused, Siddhpur Deputy Superintendent of Police H.K. Pandya stated that the gang hails from Bihar and travels to other states under the guise of laborers. They use social media to collect information about mobile showrooms, which they then target for theft.

The incident took place 20 days ago when unknown individuals broke into Rudra Mobile Shop in Radhanpur during the night and stole mobile phones worth ₹11,04,113 along with ₹23,000 in cash. The Patan LCB launched an investigation and tracked the suspects to Delhi. Through human intelligence and technical surveillance, two accused were identified and arrested: Rahul Namonath Jaiswal, a native of Ghoda Sahan, East Champaran (Bihar), currently residing in Nathupur, Gurugram (Haryana), and Mohammed Nasim Mohammed Bashir Ansari, originally from Ahmednagar, also linked to Ghoda Sahan, East Champaran.

During interrogation in Delhi, both accused confessed to the theft and revealed that the stolen phones had been handed over to a man named Hassan in Nepal. They also disclosed the names of three other accomplices. The arrested duo has been brought to Patan for further investigation. Police are continuing efforts to apprehend the remaining accused and recover the stolen property.

The absconding members of the Chaddar Gang have been identified as Safiq Sukhmamiya Malik, a resident of Ghoda Sahan, Virta Chowk, Bihar, currently residing in Delhi; Muslimalam Tayyabalam Malik, also from Bihar, presently staying near Kapil Dairy in Nayapur under the jurisdiction of Nandnagari Police Station, East Delhi; Hariom Yadav, a resident of Ghoda Sahan, Bihar; and Hasan Tajuddin Malik, originally from Ghoda Sahan, Virta Chowk, who is currently believed to be in Nepal.
