₹1,242 crore allocated for road resurfacing & related works across Gujarat

Gandhinagar: In a major push for road infrastructure development, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has approved ₹1,242 crore for resurfacing and ancillary road works across Gujarat, with a focus on providing ease of transportation for citizens, businesses, and industries.

Taking into account the road requirements in all districts, ₹975 crore has been sanctioned for the Roads and Buildings Department to undertake the resurfacing of 118 roads, spanning a total length of 735 kilometers. This initiative aims to improve connectivity, particularly in areas with urgent infrastructure needs.

Additionally, ₹267 crore has been approved for targeted road development projects in Kadi taluka (Mehsana district) and the Deshlpar–Hajipir region of Kutch. Of this, ₹171 crore has been earmarked for four key road improvement projects in Kadi, which includes ₹27 crore for strengthening, resurfacing, and CC road construction on Dangarwa–Karjisan Road and Kadi–Jaslpur–Mokasan–Suraj Road.

Considering the traffic volume on two other major roads—Bhalti–Dharampur–Khawad Road and Kadi–Nani Kadi–Bavdu–Chandrasan–Khodano Dhal Road—₹144 crore has been sanctioned for widening these roads to 7 and 10 meters, respectively. In total, ₹172 crore has been approved for road development in Kadi taluka.

In Kutch, ₹95 crore has been allocated to convert the 32-kilometer-long, 7-meter-wide Deshlpar–Hajipir State Highway into a concrete (CC) road, in view of heavy vehicle traffic and the road’s significance in connecting North Gujarat with the Hajipir pilgrimage site.

Altogether, a total of ₹1,242 crore has been approved for strengthening, resurfacing, and constructing CC roads across the state.

These initiatives will enhance connectivity between remote villages and taluka headquarters, accelerate development in both urban and rural areas, and improve traffic flow in industrial zones and along key routes to pilgrimage sites like Hajipir.

The resurfacing and ancillary works approved by Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel cover state highways, major district roads, and essential rural roads across multiple districts. DeshGujarat
