AMC allows AMTS buses on BRTS corridor to ease Ahmedabad traffic
April 25, 2025
Ahmedabad: To help reduce traffic congestion in the city, the Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has permitted AMTS buses to operate within the BRTS corridor starting today. Initially, 49 AMTS buses will run on five specific routes linking the city’s eastern and western areas.
The selected routes include: Odhav to Ghuma, Sarangpur to Bopal, Ghuma to Naroda, Iskcon Circle to Vivekanand Nagar, and Godhavi to Hatkeshwar.
These buses will primarily use the BRTS lanes to ease traffic pressure on regular roads. The move aims to tackle delays faced by buses in overcrowded areas. Passengers can board and disembark at designated BRTS stops, enabling them to access both AMTS and BRTS services from the same points. AMTS bus schedules and fare structures, including concessional passes, will remain the same. However, tickets for AMTS buses will not be sold at BRTS stops. Instead, security personnel will check them as passengers exit.
First, the five routes will see the movement of AMTS buses in the BRTS corridor, and depending on its success, more AMTS buses may be integrated into the BRTS corridor later. DeshGujarat
