Gujarat HC Issues Contempt Notice Against Waqf Board Members and CEO
April 25, 2025
Ahmedabad: The Gujarat High Court bench, comprising Justice AS Supehia and Justice Gita Gopi, issued a contempt notice against the members and CEO of the Gujarat State Waqf Board in response to a petition. The court has scheduled the next hearing for June 24.
The contempt petition, filed by Ghulam Momin and others, stated that the court’s previous order on March 2, 2020, directed the Waqf Board to re-appoint the Pir Najumiya Dargah Waqf scheme under the Waqf Act-69 after hearing all parties. However, the Waqf Board members approved the scheme unilaterally without consulting all concerned parties, prompting the filing of the contempt petition. DeshGujarat
