April 26, 2025
Gandhingaar: Gujarat Police cracked down on illegally staying Bangladeshis in India and nabbed around 890 such persons in Ahmedabad and over 134 in Surat.
Minister of State for Home, Harsh Sanghavi in Surat told media persons – ‘Historic success is achieved in nabbing illegal Bangladeshi migrants through a very major operation. Ahmedabad Police nabbed 890 illegal Bangladeshis, while Surat Police nabbed 134 illegal Bangladeshis. This was Gujarat Police’s largest operation till date. These all Bangladeshis entered through Bengal and had fake documents. They had been staying in various States. Many of them were into drug cartel, human trafficking. Four Bangladeshis nabbed in previous case were working as sleeper cell for Al Qaeda. Police is investigating into their activities. I want to convey a clear message to all such people. Either you walk to police station and get surrendered, or Gujarat Police will take strong action like never before. Directives are given to take such actions in all corners of Gujarat. Gujarat Police is working as per the directive of the Centre to deport all Pakistanis back to their country as well. I congratulate Ahmedabad city police and Surat police, the way they reached corners and in just one night did this operation. Police Commissioner, JCPs, DCPs were in the field through the night for this operation. All intruders should surrender selves in next two days or police would deport them to Bangladesh. Those harboring the intruders will also be punished strictly through legal actions. Those Bangladeshi intruders who are in Gujarat through fake documents of Bengal will face strict actions.’
This morning, starting from 3:00 AM, the Ahmedabad Crime Branch, along with teams from the SOG, EOW, Zone 6, and Headquarters, organised a combing operation to apprehend foreign immigrants residing illegally in Ahmedabad city. During this operation, more than 400 suspicious immigrants have been detained: Ajit Raajyan, DCP Crime Branch, Ahmedabad
Illegal intruders were tied with ropes and taken to the Crime Branch and city police headquarters on foot and in vehicles. Those detained will go through identity verification process and send for deportation. DeshGujarat
