April 27, 2025
Ahmedabad: The Fee Regulatory Committee (FRC) in Ahmedabad has penalized seven private schools for collecting unauthorized and excessive fees, levying fines ranging from ₹5,000 to ₹25,000. Investigations revealed these schools were submitting identical financial records without updates and charging higher fees for two to three years without proper authorization.
Additional penalties were imposed on institutions failing to submit timely affidavits. The highest fines of ₹25,000 were imposed on Satya Academic English School and Shri Shiv Shishu Vihar School. Other schools are Tejas Vidyalaya, Little Bird School, Sagar Primary School, Vikas Primary School, JP Primary School, Swaminarayan International School(Gandhinagar), Surya Varsani Academy(Bhuj)
The FRC’s action followed numerous complaints from parents about schools charging additional amounts under various categories without authorization. The District Education Officer (DEO) has directed all private schools to mandatorily submit affidavits to the FRC, even those charging lower fees, to ensure adherence and fee structure transparency.
