Ahmedabad: A senior citizen hit by the bus belonging to Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) Janmarg was dead on Saturday.

Victim Keshavprasad Tiwari was crossing the road on his electric vehicle near Acher Char Rasta in Sabarmati area when a BRTS bus hit him, causing his death.

L Division Traffic Police has filed a case. The accident took place at around 1.15 pm near Sabarmati Municipal Swimming Pool crossroads. The bus was operated by a private contractor namely Travel Time and the driver was Faisal Sheikh. The driver escaped the place after causing the fatal accident. The bus was route number 4 from Zundal to LD Engineering College.

As per the police complaint, the bus was overspeeding, and it was lethargy of the driver that caused this accident. The bus number was GJ01HT2686. The victim was an 85-year-old senior citizen who was out for a medical check-up and purchase of Ayurvedic medicines. —DeshGujarat
