5 illegal Bangladeshis nabbed from Ahmedabad-Hawrah Express in Vadodara

Vadodara: Five Bangladeshis, including a couple and their two children, were arrested late Saturday night at Vadodara Railway Station following a routine check on the Ahmedabad-Hawrah Express train. The arrested individuals were found to be traveling without proper documentation, and it was revealed that they were en route to Bangladesh via West Bengal.

In response to the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, a statewide operation was launched to apprehend illegal Bangladeshis. The Western Railway SP, Saroj Kumari, formed 14 teams to target these individuals, and checks were intensified on long-route trains traveling to and from West Bengal.

Late Saturday night, Vadodara Railway Police, along with the LCB and SOG, carried out a search operation on the Ahmedabad-Hawrah Express, which arrived at 2:15 AM. During the inspection, a family consisting of a couple and their two children, along with another individual, was found in suspicious circumstances aboard the 3-Tier AC coach. The group had general tickets but had paid the fine and boarded the train. Upon questioning, they confessed to being Bangladeshi nationals, and further documents confirmed their identity.

The arrested individuals include Ohiudul Rustam Sheikh (46), a resident of Chandola Talav, Ahmedabad, originally from Bhaydanga, Kaliya, Narail District, Bangladesh; Parveen Ohiudul Sheikh (37), his wife; and their two children, aged 14 and 11, as well as Mohammad Sherali Mohammad Lutpar Sheikh (41), a resident of Siddharth Tokiz, Surat, originally from Bhaydanga, Kaliya, Narail, Bangladesh.

The couple, who have been working as garbage collectors, were reportedly traveling to West Bengal with plans to return to Bangladesh. The police have initiated further investigations as part of their ongoing efforts to crack down on illegal immigration from Bangladesh. DeshGujarat
