ACB Gujarat nabs Income Tax office superintendent for accepting ₹500 bribe in Vadodara
April 28, 2025
Vadodara: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat today nabbed Nitish Basistnarayan Bharati (41), serving as an Office Superintendent at the Income Tax Office in Vadodara, for accepting a bribe of ₹500.
According to the ACB, the complainant wanted a correction in his PAN card, including updating the residential status as per the Aadhaar card, to start a new business. Even though the complainant submitted a written application on April 25th, the accused allegedly delayed the process under various pretexts and later demanded a bribe of ₹1,000 over a phone call.
Unwilling to pay the bribe, the citizen lodged a complaint through the ACB’s 1064 toll-free helpline. Acting on the complaint, the ACB team organized a trap today at Aaykar Bhavan, during which the accused was caught red-handed accepting ₹500 from the complainant. Further investigation is underway.
