Surat: Protests have been taking place across the nation against Pakistan after the deadly terror attack on Hindu tourists in Pahalgam, which claimed over 27 lives. In Surat too, people pasted Pakistani flags on roads and protested by walking over them. However, a commotion occurred when some youths removed one of the flags and were caught by locals. The video of the incident has gone viral, showing locals roughing up the youths for allegedly supporting Pakistan.
In the video, a local can be seen nabbing a youth who had picked up a Pakistani flag from the road. When questioned, he claimed he was only picking it up and that someone else had removed it earlier. Locals later found 2–3 youths in an auto-rickshaw who had actually removed the flag. Angered by their act, the local crowd slapped the youths while questioning why they had removed the Pakistani flag. Seeing the anger, the youths started apologizing and assured that it would not happen again. Despite this, the locals, still angry, forced the youths to paste the flag back on the road.
The youths revealed that they lived in the Un area in Awas Yojana houses but had come to Bhestan to remove the flag. Later, one of the youths was seen pasting the flag back, while another was seen apologizing. The local crowd got further agitated and questioned the youths, saying, “If you sympathize with Pakistan, why don’t you go and live there?” DeshGujarat
