Goods vehicles allowed on Commod Circle–Torrent Power Station stretch in Ahmedabad
April 29, 2025
Ahmedabad: In a temporary relaxation, Ahmedabad Police Commissioner G.S. Malik, IPS, has issued a notification permitting the entry of certain heavy and medium goods vehicles into specific areas of the city on a trial basis for one month.
As per the notification, all types of heavy and medium goods vehicles are permitted to ply on the designated route—from Commod Circle to the Torrent Power Station on Sardar Patel Ring Road—between 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM. The order, issued under Section 33(1)(b)(c) of the Gujarat Police Act, 1951, and Rule 207 of the Gujarat Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989, will remain in effect from May 1 to May 31, 2025.
The notification further specifies that this temporary arrangement applies only during the trial period. The order will automatically stand cancelled after midnight on May 31, 2025, and the previous traffic restrictions will be reinstated from June 1 unless new directives are issued.
The move is likely aimed at assessing traffic impact and operational feasibility during non-peak hours. Violations of the order will attract penalties under Section 223 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) 2023 and Section 131 of the Gujarat Police Act. Police personnel across all ranks within the Ahmedabad Commissionerate have been authorized to enforce the order and file complaints against violators. DeshGujarat
