ACB Gujarat nabs 2 cops, aide in bribe case in Surat

Surat: The Gujarat Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Wednesday caught two police personnel and their accomplice red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹63,000 at Hirabaug Police Chowki under Kapodra Police Station in Surat.

The accused, namely Madhuben Amibhai Rabari, a Woman Police Sub-Inspector, and Navnitkumar Hamirbhai Jethva, an Assistant Sub-Inspector, were posted at the Hirabaug Police Chowki. They allegedly demanded the bribe from a complainant in connection with a money-related application under investigation.

According to the ACB, an application was filed against the complainant at Kapodra Police Station regarding a monetary dispute. The case was being investigated by Madhuben Rabari, with Navnitkumar Jethva serving as her writer. During the probe, the accused pressured the complainant to return the money after settlement and demanded an excess amount of ₹63,000 as a bribe.

As the complainant was unwilling to pay and approached the Vadodara ACB office, officials laid a trap. During the operation, Jethva demanded the bribe on Rabari’s behalf and instructed the complainant to hand over the cash to their aide, Man Singh Ramabhai Sisodia. Sisodia was caught red-handed accepting the amount. All three have been booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act. Further investigation is underway. — DeshGujarat
