Waste to Wonder Park to come up in Indroda, Gandhinagar

Gandhinagar: The Waste to Wonder Park, which was earlier planned for TP-29 in Sargasan, will now be constructed at Indroda. For this purpose, the Road and Building Department has allocated a plot near J Road.

Since Sarita Udyan, SE-1 Lake, Sant Sarovar Dam, and Indroda Park are already located nearby, the new park will also be developed in this area, which is being promoted as a tourist destination.

In a meeting of the Standing Committee of the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation held in January, Prem Kumar P. Vaishya (David) was appointed as a consultant to prepare the map and estimate for constructing the park in Sargasan. However, the project has now been shifted to Indroda and will be based on the theme of Gujarat Darshan Park.

Although the original tender process was conducted for the Sargasan location, the lowest bid (L-1) was submitted by an agency named VGF. The tender is valued at ₹17.89 crore, which is just 0.85% lower than the estimated cost of ₹18.05 crore.

Standing Committee Chairman Gaurang Vyas stated that with Gujarat Darshan Park also coming up in the same area, Indroda has strong potential to become a major tourist hub. A riverfront is also planned in the vicinity in the future. In the latest meeting, it was decided to award the construction of the park to VGF and hand over its management to the agency for a period of 20 years. DeshGujarat
