IMD predicts unseasonal rain in these parts of Gujarat from May 3

Ahmedabad: People of Gujarat may get some relief from the scorching heat starting tomorrow, as unseasonal rain is expected in the coming days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light to moderate rain and thundershowers at isolated to a few places across several districts of Gujarat from May 3 to May 9, 2025.

As per the IMD’s latest bulletin, light thunderstorms with lightning, gusty winds (30–40 kmph), and light to moderate rain are very likely at isolated places in North Gujarat’s Banaskantha and Sabarkantha districts, as well as in Kutch on May 3.

On May 4, the IMD predicts light thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (30–40 kmph) with rain at isolated locations in Banaskantha, Patan, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Panchmahal, Dahod, Mahisagar, Vadodara, and Chhota Udepur districts. In Saurashtra-Kutch, rain is likely in Amreli, Bhavnagar, Gir Somnath, Diu, and Kutch.

On May 5, thunderstorms with gusty winds and rain are likely at isolated places across all districts of South Gujarat—Vadodara, Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Bharuch, Surat, Tapi, Valsad, Navsari, Dangs—along with Daman and Dadra & Nagar Haveli. North Gujarat districts including Banaskantha, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Patan, Aravalli, Panchmahal, Dahod, and Mahisagar are also expected to experience similar weather. Saurashtra-Kutch may see rain in Bhavnagar, Amreli, and Kutch.

On May 6, widespread isolated thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds (40–50 kmph) are likely in all districts of South Gujarat and UTs—Vadodara, Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Bharuch, Surat, Tapi, Valsad, Navsari, Dangs, Daman, and Dadra & Nagar Haveli. Affected districts in North Gujarat include Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Anand, Panchmahal, Dahod, and Mahisagar. In Saurashtra-Kutch, rain is likely in Rajkot, Jamnagar, Porbandar, Junagadh, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Dwarka, Gir Somnath, Botad, Kutch, and Diu.

On May 7, thunderstorms with wind speeds of 40–50 kmph are expected at isolated places in Banaskantha, Anand, Vadodara, Bharuch, Surat, Tapi, Valsad, Navsari, Dangs, Daman, and Dadra Nagar Haveli. Saurashtra-Kutch regions of Amreli, Bhavnagar, Gir Somnath, Botad, Kutch, and Diu are also likely to be affected.

On May 8, the final day of the forecast period, isolated places in Banaskantha, Patan, Anand, Vadodara, and Bharuch may experience thunderstorms and light to moderate rain. In Saurashtra-Kutch, affected districts include Surendranagar, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Morbi, Gir Somnath, Botad, Kutch, and Diu.
