Ankleshwar: In a landmark judgment highlighting the swift delivery of justice under the new legal framework, the Ankleshwar Sessions Court today sentenced Vijay Paswan(a migrant from Bihar) to death within a mere 72 days of the crime. The verdict marks the first death penalty under the new laws in the state, as stated by the Minister of State for Home Affairs, Shri Harsh Sanghavi.

The case pertains to the horrific incident in Jhagadia GIDC, Bharuch district, where a 10-year-old innocent girl was kidnapped, brutally raped, and murdered. The court’s swift action in delivering this extreme punishment underscores the efficiency of the judiciary and the police system in Gujarat.

The spine-chilling incident, which occurred 72 days prior, had sent shockwaves through society. The accused had inflicted unimaginable cruelty upon the young victim, with reports indicating over 30 wounds on her body and injuries to her private parts inflicted with a rod. Recognizing the heinous nature of the crime, the Honorable Court not only sentenced the accused to capital punishment but also ordered him to pay a compensation of ₹10 lakh to the victim’s family. This verdict stands as a powerful example of swift and stringent legal action.
