Drug case accused flees Surat police custody through toilet window

Surat: Amidst the crackdown against drug peddlers and suppliers in the city, one accused, Zuberkhan Pathan, fled from a police post by escaping through the toilet window.

As per the details, while the Crime Branch team was on patrol, ASI Valji Hadiya received a tip-off that a youth named Zuberkhan would be delivering a consignment of MD drugs near the public toilet behind Kinnari Cinema around 11 PM on Sunday. Acting on the tip, police apprehended Zuberkhan Firozkhan Pathan (30), a resident of Gandhinagar, old depot area, Umarpada. A plastic zip bag containing powder was found in the left pocket of his trousers. Forensic officials confirmed it was MD (mephedrone) drugs.

Police took Zuber to the Region-2, Circle-5 traffic police outpost near Kinnari Char Rasta and seized 17.590 grams of MD drugs worth ₹1,75,900, along with cash and a mobile phone, totaling ₹1,82,520.

During preliminary interrogation, Zuber admitted he had purchased the drugs from Abrarkhan, alias Aarush Ayubkhan Pathan, also a resident of Gandhinagar, Umarvada, for retail sale.

However, during questioning at the outpost, Zuber requested to use the toilet. He was allowed to go but fled by jumping out of the toilet window. Police chased him but failed to catch him, after which an FIR was registered against him. The authorities have also declared Abrarkhan, the alleged supplier, wanted. DeshGujarat
