May 08, 2025
Kutch: Security along the coastal areas of the state has been increased, and the leaves of police personnel have been cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances. With ongoing tensions with neighboring Pakistan, personnel have been instructed to resume duty immediately.
The office of the Director General of Police, Vikas Sahay, issued an order cancelling the leave of all police officers across cities and districts, urging them to return to work immediately. Meanwhile,
Furthermore, the police along the coastal belt of the state have been put on high alert for the past two days, and additional forces have also been deployed.
Additionally, police have been visiting coastal villages and boat landing points to encourage villagers and local leaders to report any suspicious activity. Officers from the State Reserve Police (SRP) and Gram Rakshak Dal are working alongside local law enforcement to maintain 24/7 patrolling and vehicle checks in the region.
Security measures have also been bolstered at critical infrastructure locations within the Rajkot Range, which includes Jamnagar, Morbi, and Devbhumi Dwarka. Police are conducting round-the-clock patrols, vehicle inspections at key points, and monitoring the sea with the Marine Task Force to detect any unusual movements. Fishermen entering or leaving the harbor are being asked to show identification and other documentation.
This decision comes in the wake of Operation Sindoor, in which Indian armed forces targeted terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) early Wednesday, following the fatal attack on 25 tourists and a local in Pahalgam, Kashmir, on April 22. It is noteworthy that Gujarat shares both land and maritime borders with Pakistan. DeshGujarat
